HOUSE AND REGION
Our spacious, modern house has 20 guestrooms with 30 beds, a sunlit dining room, and pleasant areas for guests to gather indoors and out. We are situated at an elevation of 3300 feet overlooking the beautiful Walensee in eastern Switzerland. Our southern exposure insures an ideal climate all year long.
The natural beauty and peace of the mountains and the small village of Amden make it easy to feel close to the Creator.
Surrounding the house you will find a walker’s paradise. Cable lifts take you up to winter ski areas and hiking trails in summer. A pleasant indoor swimming pool is available in the village.
Access to our prayer house is easy by car or public transportation. We are 80 minutes by train from both Zurich and Chur, including a short bus ride to our entrance at Amden-Mennweg.
VISION
- To promote prayer in individual believers and in the church that comes from a growing relationship of the heart with Jesus.
- To promote reconciliation and restoration in the body of Christ.
- To be an interdenominational center supportive of the vision for a prayer net covering all of Switzerland.
- To see prayer effecting changes in our society and our business and political life.
- That every individual guest and group become a partner in this vision for our land and world.
PURPOSE
Our four main objectives are:
- To offer a setting where individuals and groups can draw away from daily life and move deeper into their relationship with God.
- To offer a place of peace, restoration and personal reorientation.
- To offer seminars and events on prayer throughout the year.
- To be a center of ongoing intercession for Switzerland.
WHO WE ARE
- Gebetshaus Bartimäus was founded in 1996 by Martin and Maya Heiniger, whose vision guides all we do.
- The house is ably managed today by Roland and Heidi Laubscher.
- The prayer house is organized as a charitable organization, and is sustained by seminar and teaching fees, guest services and donations.
- We are connected with Prayer for Switzerland (www.gebet.ch) and the Network of European Prayer Houses (www.prayer-house.net).
- We exist as a support to churches and prayer groups. We do not found these ourselves.
- We base our faith and work on the Bible and on God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We see our position like that of Bartimaeus, the blind man who cried out to Jesus, Mark 10:46-52. Just as he did, our hearts cry out to the Lord. Only from him can we expect answers and help.
